2012 promises to be a learning year
With the onset of the year 2012, KLDC already has put up some strategies to ensure that stakeholders in the leather industry never thirst for lack of information. In doing this, KLDC has already organized for an all-expenses paid two-day training tour which will involve 50 individuals drawn from the larger Bungoma county who represent the entire leather value chain. The team is in the process of setting up a leather facility in Bungoma, thus the trip will serve as an eye-opener to the various skills and facilities required prior to setting up and running a leather manufacturing facility. The tour will involve visits to the Africa Leather Industries in Thika (ALI), The Leather Industries of Kenya (LIK) as well as the Thika Production Centre for Shoe Industry (TPCSI). The tour will come to an end during a party that will be hosted by KLDC in honour of the Bungoma team where members will be able to share knowledge and ideas on a light touch.
